Aims of the programme
The programme aims to equip individuals with the knowledge and skills needed to plan and deliver services within the dynamic context of professional practice by enabling the student to:
- Develop their professional expertise and political awareness through critical reflection on their practice as educators.
- Synthesise and evaluate new theoretical and practice-based knowledge which contributes to professional and service development within their sphere of practice.

Knowledge and understanding
On completion of this programme the successful student will be able to:
- Critically evaluate the key concepts supporting professional roles in education.
- Critically examine the legal, ethical and professional issues associated with these roles.
- Critically evaluate contemporary assessment and learning theory.
Skills
On completion of this programme the successful student will be able to:
- Facilitate transformational learning in self and others through critical reflection.
- Critically analyse and propose solutions to practice based problems using theoretical concepts to support the process.
- Critically evaluate new knowledge in relation to the development and improvement of services.
- Critically apply a range of assessment methods to identify the needs of individuals or groups within the scope of their role.
- Select and evaluate a range of teaching, learning and assessment methods to facilitate learning and development.
- Critically apply the tools that are available to support personal and professional development and to support those of other adult learners.

Students must also complete
Pedagogy and Practice in Education (30 credits) or Coaching and mentoring (30 credits)
This programme is quality assured by Middlesex University and the student will receive a Middlesex University award on successful completion.
